Clip-in Guide for Medium/Thick Hair

STEP 1

Start by brushing your hair to ensure it is as smooth as possible and this will make everything much easier which will give you a better end result. Our paddle brush is perfect for this as the bristles are designed to make your hair as smooth as possible.

STEP 2

Grab a hair clip as we are ready to start sectioning the hair. With your fingers or a comb section a straight line across your head, this will be approximately just below the middle of your ear. Be sure to clip all the rest of your hair up securely out of the way. Measure the weft to your head where you have made the parting to ensure it fits comfortably, if it is a little too wide to fit then simply resection the hair a little higher up on your head.

Once you have the section, take one of your 3 clip wefts and brush it through. Clip the weft in just below the parting, clipping it in just below will ensure it can move naturally with your own hair and lie flat to the scalp. Start with the middle clip to ensure it is securely in the hair, next clip the other two sides in ensuring it is as straight and even as possible following your section. This way of clipping them in will apply to all the wefts.

STEP 3

Next you will need to make a new section about half an inch above the previous section securing the rest of the hair out of the way. You will now apply the smaller 4 clip weft (if you have our Elegant range please skip this step and move onto step 4) and follow the same process as before.

STEP 4

Take another clean straight section just above the last section and secure the rest of your hair out of the way like previously. Take your larger 4 clip weft and follow exactly the same process as before with brushing and clipping it into your hair. Don’t forget to clip it in as neatly and straight as possible to avoid pieces being visible once clipped in. This piece should be roughly level with the top of your ears.

STEP 5

Take your final section for the back of the head just above the previous, following the same process as you have done with the other wefts. This should be just below the crown and there should be enough hair above it to conceal the weft. Clip the last 3 piece weft into your hair as you have done previously. Once it is clipped in securely and neatly take down the hair you have secured away and check you have left enough hair to cover the weft. If you are worried about it showing you can apply a small amount of strong hold hair spray to your hair once you have finished clipping the weft in and styling your hair as desired.

STEP 6

Now we move onto the sides of your head to finish off the transformation. Section your hair approximately 1 inch above your ear and level with the final 3 clip weft you clipped in below the crown. Take your first 2 clip weft, follow the same process as you have done with securing the hair out of the way, brushing the weft and clipping it in just below the parting you have made for the section ensuring it is straight and securely attached.

STEP 7

We move onto our first 1 clip weft now; these are used to add more hair to the front where it frames your face and fill in any potential gaps. Section a small piece above the 2 clip weft, ensure it is nearer the front by your face as this will be where you likely need some additional blending. Take down the hair you have clipped up out of the way and ensure all wefts are covered and it is blended enough with your own hair.

STEP 8

We move onto our first 1 clip weft now; these are used to add more hair to the front where it frames your face and fill in any potential gaps. Section a small piece above the 2 clip weft, ensure it is nearer the front by your face as this will be where you likely need some additional blending. Take down the hair you have clipped up out of the way and ensure all wefts are covered and it is blended enough with your own hair.

Take your paddle brush and gently brush your hair to ensure it is tangle free, be sure not to brush at the top of the extensions as you don’t want the brush to get caught in between your hair and the weft. For an elevated shine and sleekness, incorporate a few drops of your Gold Hair Oil by Foxy Locks.

Once you have completed this you are ready to go! You can style them as needed, a good tip for blending if you have thick hair or a blunt cut is to curl your hair and the extensions as this hides the extensions easier than when it is straight. You can also get a hairdresser to blend the extensions into your own hair for the perfect blend. Remember, you may not need to use all the wefts and you don't have to, use as many as you feel comfortable with or until you get the most natural blend.  When you are ready to remove them, take them out one weft at a time to ensure that you unclip all clips and do not tug or pull at the hair. Practice makes perfect, we can promise you that with time you will be a natural at applying them and you will be able to apply a full head with ease in a few minutes.
