Your Foxy Locks hair extensions are made from 100% Remy human hair – which means they deserve the same love and care as your natural hair. Whether you wear them daily or just for special occasions, the way you wash and style your extensions has a huge impact on their longevity, texture and shine.
Follow this step-by-step routine to keep your extensions soft, silky and stunning.
How Often Should You Wash Hair Extensions?
Unlike your natural hair, clip-in hair extensions don’t need frequent washing. We recommend washing them every 10–15 wears, or whenever there’s noticeable build-up from product or styling.
The key is to be gentle and only wash when truly needed – overwashing can dry them out.
Step 1: Gently Brush Before Washing
Before getting your extensions wet, always detangle them using a wide-tooth comb or a paddle brush (ideally while they’re secured in your Foxy Locks Holder Styler).
Start from the ends and work upwards. Never brush them when soaking wet, as that’s when hair is at its weakest.
Step 2: Use Sulphate-Free, Extension-Friendly Shampoo
Choose a gentle, moisturising shampoo (ps ours makes your hair SO silky)
Hold each weft under lukewarm running water and apply shampoo from top to bottom. Do not rub or twist. Gently smooth the shampoo through the hair and rinse thoroughly.
Step 3: Deep Condition for Silkiness
Apply a hydrating conditioner or deep treatment mask, focusing on the mid-lengths to ends.
Let it sit for 10–15 minutes, then rinse with cool water to lock in shine. This helps maintain the softness and manageability of the hair.
For extra TLC, use a leave-in conditioner or lightweight serum after washing.
Step 4: Dry the Right Way
Pat your extensions dry using a soft towel – no wringing or rubbing. Then place them on your Foxy Locks Holder Styler to air dry naturally or blow dry.
Avoid blow drying unless necessary. If you must, use a low heat setting and a heat protectant spray.
Step 5: Style Like a Pro
