As wedding season looms, we’re continuing on from our recent Bridal Hair Inspiration blog to bring you the best Guest Styling Guide.
Finding the perfect hairstyle that strikes the right balance of chic and comfortable can be tricky. Luckily, with Foxy Locks Remy hair extensions, tools, and products on hand, creating the perfect look has never been easier.
Ensuring your look is appropriate for the celebration is paramount. Consider the theme and venue, weather forecast, and time of day when planning your outfit, makeup and hairstyle. An evening celebration may call for a more formal, glamorous approach, whilst a casual outdoor ceremony may demand more practicalities.
Your look should complement the overall vibe of the event, especially if a dress code has been specified! Remember to keep the focus on the happy couple, opting for tasteful, understated choices. That being said, it is still important to feel comfortable and confident, expressing your personal style.
We’ve compiled some of our favourite hairstyles for wedding guests, suitable for anything from a black-tie ball to a rustic barn party.
Effortless Waves
For this hairstyle, start on clean dry hair. Use a heat protectant product to avoid damage.
1.Divide your hair into manageable sections. Work from the bottom upwards for ease.
2.Heat up a medium to thick barrel curling wand, you want to create loose waves rather than tight ringlets.
3.Take a section of hair about an inch wide, wrapping around the wand away from the face. Hold for a few seconds before releasing, pulling the curl downwards.
4.Repeat this step on your first section, alternating the direction of the curls for a natural, lived-in texture.
5.Spritz the first section with a light-hold hairspray, before starting on the next.
6.Once all sections are curled, run your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to loosen the curls and create soft waves.
7.Finish with more hair spray to hold the look in place, flipping your head upside down for exaggerated volume.
Romantic Half-Up Half-Down
Begin this look by brushing out your locks fully, removing any tangles or knots.
1.Part your hair down the middle and section off the top half of your hair. As a guide, you can use your thumbs to circle from your temples to the back of your head, meeting in the middle.
2.Secure a high ponytail on either side of the part. This doesn’t have to be perfect, just to hold the hair out of the way.
3.Check that your partings are neat and straight, down the centre of your head, and from ear to ear. Correct these if you need to, using a tail comb.
4.Secure the bottom half of your hair into a ponytail, just to hold out of the way.
5.Undo one ponytail and brush out the hair. Split the hair into two, and apply a tiny amount of gel to your fingertips for grip.
6.Begin twisting the two sections together, working your way down the entire length. Secure at the ends with a clear elastic.
7.Repeat steps 5 and 6 on the other side of your head, resulting in two twisted braids either side of a centre parting.
8.With the two twisted braids, gather them at the back of the head and twist them around each other to fashion a small bun. Secure in place with grips or another clear elastic.
9.Undo the ponytail from the bottom half of your head. Your finished look should be a half-up half-down twisted bun.
Polished Low Bun
For this look, you may want to add a few drops of hair oil or smoothing serum for shine.
1.Begin by brushing your hair back and gathering it into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck.
2.Secure the ponytail with a hair elastic, ensuring it sits tightly against your head.
3.Twist the ponytail tightly, wrapping it around the base to form a bun.
4.Secure the bun with grips, tucking in any stray hairs as you go.
5.Smooth down any flyaways with a small amount of hairspray for a polished finish.
6.Add a decorative bow accessory, floral hair pin or fascinator to elevate the look.
Sleek Side Part
Start on freshly washed, slightly damp hair. Disperse a small amount of mousse throughout your locks for maximum hold.
1.Use a pin tail comb to create a precise deep side parting.
2.Blow dry your locks in a downward motion, using a nozzle attachment and brush to guide the hair and tame frizz.
3.If your hair is naturally textured or you just wish to create a super sleek look, follow up by straightening your locks.
4.Tuck the side with less hair behind your ear for a elegant touch.
5.Finish the look with a spritz of Perfume & Shine Spray to keep hair looking glossy.
Hair extensions can be incorporated into all of these styles, allowing you the flexibility of extra length and thickness. If you need help applying your Remy clip in extensions, check out this post!
