Textured Waves
Hailey Bieber has been a style icon and hair muse for almost a decade now. One of our favourite looks from her is the messy, textured wave that she’s regularly seen sporting both running errands and attending red carpet events. For a laidback glam that’s easy to achieve, here’s our guide to the beachy halfwave hair using a pair of straighteners:
- Start with dry, detangled hair. Apply a heat protectant product prior to styling to prevent damage.
- Section off the top and bottom of your hair into manageable parts. Use clips to hold hair out of the way as you work.
- Take a small section of hair between 1-2 inches wide. The smaller the section, the more defined your waves will look.
- Clamping the straightener near the roots, begin twisting your wrist away from your face. Turn the straightener in a half curl motion to create a bend.
- Slide the straightener down the section, then twist in the opposite direction to form an ‘S’ shape. Repeat this process down the entire length of the hair.
- Work through the rest of your hair, spritzing with a light hold hair spray to set the waves in place after completing each section.
- Use a wide tooth comb and salt spray to separate the waves and achieve a California surf feel.
Voluminous Blowout
Sported by Beyonce on her recent Superbowl Verizon commercial, the bouncy blowout is a huge hair trend that we absolutely adore. Her long platinum locks frame her face in a classic elegant glam, reminiscent of the old money styles that are re-circulating in the beauty sphere. If you don’t have the natural length or volume in your locks to achieve this look, explore our range of Remy clip-in hair extensions and follow this step-by-step guide:
- Start with clean, damp hair. Use a few drops of Luxury Gold Hair Oil to protect against heat damage.
- Use a tail comb to create a deep side parting, then section your hair into manageable parts using clips.
- Starting from the bottom, place a round brush under a small section of hair at the root. Aim the nozzle of your hairdryer down the hair shaft as you pull the brush through the hair. Curl the brush outwards and away from your head as you reach the ends to create a bouncy curl.
- Once dried and curled round the brush, use the cool shot button while the hair is still wrapped to set in place.
- For the top, around your roots, lift the hair upwards with the brush as you dry to create volume at the root.
- Once your hair is dried and curled, gently separate the curls with your fingers for a more natural look.
- Spritz with a light hold hairspray to ensure the style stays in place.
Bow Braids
The bow trend is truly going nowhere in 2024, but in order to keep the trend cool and fresh, we need to find new ways to incorporate satin ribbons and bow details into our hairstyles to ensure it doesn’t become outdated. Accessorizing a pretty, braided hairstyle emphasizes sophistication and femininity, living up to the much-loved coquette trend. We’ve selected a slick, French braided bun for this look, but you can do any plaited style that you please:
- Start with brushed hair, using a tailcomb to part hair down the middle and create two even sections on either side of your head.
- Apply a small amount of gel to tame flyaways and ensure a good grip as you braid. Use a soft bristle brush to disperse throughout your locks.
- Take a small section of hair at the top front of your head on one of the sides. Split this into three equal parts.
- Begin a classic three strand braid, adding more hair to each of the side sections as you cross over the middle. Work your way down the back towards the nape. For a sleek look, keep the braid tight and close to the head.
- Once you reach the back, continue braiding the loose hair down the entire length and secure in place with a hair elastic. Repeat these steps on the other side so that you have two even French braids.
- Once complete, pick up both ends of the French braids and hold in place in the middle of the head. Twist the lengths together to fashion a ballerina style bun and secure with another hair elastic or some grips.
- Finally, clip a bow accessory above the bun to compliment the braids.
Happy Valentine’s from all of us at Foxy Locks!
