The Ultimate Guide To Achieving Barbie Hair

The Ultimate Guide To Achieving Barbie Hair

If by now you haven’t seen all the commotion over the eagerly-anticipated upcoming live action Barbie movie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, then you must have been living under a rock! The movie has been in the works since 2014, and is finally set to be released on July 21st.

The Barbie movie has completely taken over pop culture, everything from the soundtrack to sponsored brand partnerships has social media in a frenzy. Alongside the star studded status of the entire affair, it would be a hard task to avoid any mention of the movie – regardless of whether you’re planning a cinema trip to see what the fuss is all about for yourself.

With the movie’s release date finally within reaching distance, the press tour has drummed up a final surge of attention and buzz. The Los Angeles premiere took place on July 9th, followed by a London premiere on July 12th. Both events saw the movie’s stars take to a pink carpet, complete with an entire dream house and baby pink Chevrolet providing the perfect photo opportunities.

Margot Robbie, who plays the lead role of the Mattel beauty, has received undisputed praise for embodying the Barbie character both on and off screen. Alongside her stylist Andrew Mukamal, the looks have absolutely been served. Drawing inspiration from vintage Barbies from the sixties all the way into the 2010’s, Margot Robbie has been sporting classic silhouettes, effortless glam, and every shade of pink possible.

For the LA premiere, Robbie wowed fans in a custom black, sequined Schiaparelli gown – an exact replica of the 1960 ‘Solo in the Spotlight’ look. Her hair was styled by Bryce Scarlett, who created a modern rendition of a classic Barbie updo with a 2023 twist. In London, Robbie channeled the ‘Enchanted Evening’ Barbie look, wearing a blush-pink, satin Vivienne Westwood Couture dress. Her hair was worn in an elegant updo, with loose face framing pieces hanging delicately in front.

The global press tour has provided adoring Barbie fans (and fashionistas) with plenty of inspiration for their next makeup look, hairstyle, or outfit. We’ve gathered some of our favourite looks from the acclaimed events to give you step-by-step instructions on how to recreate with ease.

Wrap Around Ponytail

The wrap-around ponytail is the perfect hairstyle for a touch of modern class. It is super versatile, so you can experiment with your hair curled or straight. If you want extra luscious length and fullness in your ponytail, try adding the Foxy Locks Clip In Ponytail extension to your look. Available from 12 inches all the way up to 26 inches, there’s something to suit all preferences!

1.Start by brushing out your hair to remove all tangles

2.Gather your hair into a ponytail in your desired position. For more height, secure a base close to the crown of your head. For a more subtle, longer looking pony, tie between the nape of your neck and middle of your head.

3.Take a small one inch section from the bottom of the ponytail. Wrap this around the hair tie to disguise the base. Secure this underneath with a bobby pin, clip or other grip.

4.Set the look and add extra grip with hair spray. Gently smooth any fly-aways into place.

Textured Beach Wave

California cool girls are known for their ability to pull off loose, textured beach waves. Achieve the same look as Dua Lipa and Emma Mackey by adding extra thickness and dimension with the Foxy Locks Volumizer range.

1.Start with clean, dry hair. Using the Luxury Duo Shampoo and Conditioner will nourish and restore your lengths, and ensure your hair smells beautiful for days.

2.Run a texturizing mousse or spritz a salt spray through your lengths. This will give your hair extra grip, volume and hold.

3.Section the top of your hair out of the way, leaving the bottom down.

4.Using a wide barreled curler, wrap your hair around the wand. Alternate the direction of the curls for a natural appearance.

5.After curling the bottom section, repeat the same on the top section.

6.After the hair has completely cooled, brush through the curls.

7.For extra volume and texture, flip your hair upside down and back comb at the root ever so slightly.

8.Scrunch and manipulate the hair to fall around your face as you wish.

Sleek Straight Side Part

Nicki Minaj and Leomie Anderson both wore their hair in long, straight, sleek and side parted styles for the Barbie premieres. You can recreate this look in a more wearable manner by using our longest length 26 inch clip-in extensions. For a completely natural appearance that blends seamlessly with your natural hair, simply straighten the extensions prior to applying them and after styling your own locks.

1.Wash hair and apply Foxy Locks Luxury Gold Hair Oil to your lengths to protect against any heat damage. Give your hair a rough dry using a hairdryer.

2.Using a tailcomb, create a deep side part from the front of your hair to the crown of your head.

3.Use clips to section the top of the hair up on either side of the parting.

4.Using a straightening iron, begin to run the flat side from the root to the ends. Working in smaller sections will ensure every hair is straightened.

5.Once you have finished the bottom section, unclip the top and work your way from the back of your hair to the front.

6.Comb through your hair to ensure it is sleek and free of any tangles or bumps.

7.Take some more hair oil in the palm of your hand and smooth through just the ends of your hair.

8.For the top section, spray a light mist of hair spray over the roots to flatten the parting and tame any flyaways.
