Whether it’s curtain bangs, copper locks or the 90s style blowout, new hair trends are popping up constantly. Social media, especially Tiktok, is bursting with hair inspo and ideas, so it’s no wonder that new trends are constantly emerging!

As we end 2022 and look ahead to the new year, we at Foxy Locks have made our hair trend predictions for 2023!

Cuts

The curly fringe

If you’ve got curly hair, the likelihood is you’ve been told time and again that fringes won’t work on you. But in 2023, bangs are back on the table for curly locks! They give a beautiful, 80s-esque look that softens the face and helps enhance your cheekbones. Plus, the curly fringe looks amazing whether the hair is up or down, so there is no need to worry about complicated styling.

Blunt bob

This timeless shape has been around for years and shows no signs of going out of style. This edgy cut has a powerful vibe and is effortlessly cool. Think Mia Wallace and Anna Wintour style cuts – blunt, one length and thick bangs. An easy-to-maintain cut; just get regular trims to keep split ends at bay.

Curtain bangs

The curtain bang frenzy continues into 2023. Many get them cut in by professionals, while some simply grab the kitchen scissors and go for it (we don’t advise this!). Whether DIY or professionally done, the curtain bang remains an insanely popular cut and is great for those unsure about going for a more intense fringe, as they’ll grow out quickly.

Colours

Brunette

Step aside, copper! It’s brunette’s time to shine. Brunette is a beautiful colour that can be flattering on everyone. You just need to find the right tone to suit you. If you want to try out a deeper hue, you can always opt for a semi-permanent colour or toner to see if you like it before committing to a permanent change!

Cherry brunette

If classic brunette isn’t for you, the cherry brunette trend might be more your style. This deep brunette hue features red tones running throughout to create warmth and dimension. This is a great shade to try if you’re currently brunette and looking to change your look or if you want to try out being brunette but with added interest.

90s blonde

This gorgeous, buttery blonde tone is back in a big way. If you’re ready to commit to your hair care, this shade is the one for you. You’ll need regular salon trips and some specialist blonde maintenance products to keep this colour looking its best, but the glossy outcome is totally worth the effort.

Styles

Wet look

You may think this editorial style is reserved for the runway, but it can be achieved at home too. Using a pomade or gel on wet hair to slick it back makes a stylish change to a standard up-do, perfect for a night out!

“Bedhead”

Despite the name, the “I woke up like this” style takes more to achieve than simply rolling out of bed! However, this universally flattering style looks amazing on anyone and easily gives you that model-off-duty chic.

90s blowout

The voluminous curls of the 90s style blowout have come back into style in a huge way. Tiktok features reams of how-to videos requested by eager viewers hoping to recreate the beautiful blow dry. Plus, the style is easier to achieve with tools that help create the blow-dried look.

Adding in hair extensions really helps build volume and makes this look a real showstopper.

Side partings

Adding this to the list of trends we’d never expect to come around again, the side parting is well and truly back in style. From the red carpet to the runway, we see names like Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Gigi Hadid rocking a deep side parting. This style looks equally incredible when worn with a power suit as it does with a casual beach wave.

Up-dos

Add extra interest to your classic up-do by adding plaits, twists and accessories. Slicked-back ponies are instantly elevated by our clip-in ponytail extensions, simply clip, wrap, and you’re ready to go with a chic look that’s perfect for day and night!
