Hailey Bieber, formerly Hailey Baldwin, is a well-known American model and fashion influencer famed for being one of the go-to style icons of the 2020’s. Hailey is the Founder and Creative Director of the skincare and beauty brand ‘Rhode’, which she launched in 2022. She is regularly credited with being a social media trendsetter – we are huge fans of the glazed donut chrome nails and strawberry girl pink blush makeup – Hailey has her finger on the pulse of brewing microtrends and catapults them to virality.
The Forbes and Vogue cover star also regularly uploads to her YouTube channel, providing her audience with a behind the scenes look into her process for getting ready to attend red carpet appearances, sharing her self-care routines, and her casual conversations and cooking videos with superstar friends like Kendall Jenner.
In this blog, we dive into Hailey Bieber’s signature hairstyles and how you can recreate them at home.
Cinnamon Cookie Butter Hair
Beginning with Hailey’s hair colour, she is credited with being the originator of the latest ‘Cinnamon Cookie Butter Hair’ trend. Colourist Matt Rez posted to Instagram with a video of Hailey alongside a falling leaf, cookie and butter emoji sequence to debut her new, slightly darker shade. The colour is a light brunette shade with gold and caramel tones to create a warm, almost copper hue. Matt also expressed that it’s a foiling technique and not a full-head of colour, so if you’re looking to achieve the same look definitely ask a professional stylist to advise you. If you’re looking for hair extensions to match your Cinnamon Cookie Butter hair, try our Chestnut, Sunkissed, Cappuccino, or Honey Spice Ombre shades. Messy Wave
One of Hailey’s signature looks is her textured, beachy, California surfer hair wave. Worn both casually and to A-list events, the look is super versatile, easy to achieve and adaptable to all occasions. Luckily for us, Hailey filmed a tutorial for this look on her YouTube channel, so we’ve taken our notes on each step so we can recreate it ourselves:
- Start by washing and hydrating your locks with our Luxury Duo Shampoo and Conditioner, infused with Argan Oil.
- Squeeze moisture out of your hair with a microfibre towel and spritz in a volumizing spray and heat protectant whilst it’s damp before blow-drying.
- Rough dry your hair, flipping your head upside down for a boost of volume at the root.
- Once hair is completely dry, use a texturizing spray all over to add grip and texture.
- Clip hair up to work in smaller, more manageable sections.
- Using a straightening iron, go down the length of the hair rocking back and forth both towards and away from the face to create a wave.
- As you work through the hair, you can use more texturizing spray to mattify your locks. This will prevent the style from slipping out of freshly washed hair, lasting longer.
- Once your full head is waved, rough up the style with dry shampoo and texturizing spray to create more lived-in, undone look.
- Light hold hair spray to set in place without weighing down the hair.
You can also use Clip-In extensions to add extra length and thickness to your look. Spritz your extensions with water and apply the same heat protectant and texturizing spray before blowdrying them. Brush out tangles and apply to your natural locks before using the straightener to wave your hair together with your Remy extensions. Styling your natural hair together with your extensions will help you to achieve a seamless blend.
60’s Bouncy Pony
One of Hailey’s most iconic looks was sported for the 2019 Met Gala. Dressing for the theme ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’, Hailey sported a Barbie blonde high ponytail, paired with a black bow and baby pink backless dress. We’ll talk you through how to achieve the same look:
- Brush hair to remove all tangles, positioning into a high up ponytail at the crown of your head.
- Secure in place with an elastic hairband. Using a water based gel and a soft bristle brush, continue to smooth the ponytail into place whilst it’s tied to smooth any bumps.
- Retie the ponytail in place with the foundations now fully set.
- Add volume to your ponytail using our Remy Clip-In extension. Slide the clip under the base of your bonytail and secure the Velcro closure tightly to fix the extensions around your natural locks.
- Use hair grips to fix your hair firmly in place.
- To recreate the sixties flicky ends, use a straightening iron on both the extension and your natural hair to blend the textures together. Curl the ends of your ponytail upwards and back on itself.
- Set with hair spray to tame any flyaways and hold the flicks up all day long.
Slick Back Bun
Stylist to the stars, Hailey Bieber and the Kardashian sisters included, Jen Atkin revealed that the secret to the perfect slick back bun is a combination of product and brush. She recommends using a nourishing hair mask to achieve the sleek, glossy look. This is a double bonus as it will hydrate your hair whilst wearing the style, and you don’t need to fret about your wash schedule! She also recommends a Barber’s beard brush to get the hair as flat to the head as possible. You can recreate this with a soft bristle Boar brush. Find our tutorial for the perfect slick bun here!
